JUST LET GO

I have held onto things in my life that would be so much better in the Lord's hands. Even now I can hear the Holy Spirit calling to remembrance and saying - "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30)

There have even been some things, the Bible calls strongholds, that I have basically said, to God, "I've got this one God. I can manage this issue on my own." [Buzzer sound] Wrong answer! In response, first I hear the Spirit say, "If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church?" - 1 Timothy 3:5 Ouch! That one hurt a little Lord. Then a more powerful Word of the Lord is brought to mind - [Jesus said] "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." - John 15:5

Control and independence have their allure but they are illusions. We do have to take responsibility for our actions. However, our degree(s) of freedom and our sense of control over life should be tempered with surrender - first.

Throughout every day Christians need to find themselves abiding in Christ. IF our plans are submitted to God first - "Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed" (Proverbs 16:3) - then our success rate jumps above and beyond what we can imagine (Ephesians 3:20).
God says that He wants us to trust Him wholeheartedly, forgetting about the way humans think AND acknowledge His works in your life, on a daily basis, and He will make sure your direction is lined-up with His will. [My paraphrase of Proverbs 3:5] "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

In addition, I have learned that God is so interested in my life and so involved in my life that He instructs me to - "not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. - Philippians 4:6

He is the only God who has invested His Word made flesh, His only Son - Jesus - to secure this kind of extremely personal relationship. I say Hallelujah! I have God, whom I can come boldly before (Hebrews 4:16) and speak with at any time, about any thing and everything! In fact, as seen above, He encourages us to discuss everything.

Christians, we have a very personable God that desires to be involved in every breath of our days. Whatever our independence says that we have control over, I challenge you and me to release it into God's capable hands. All of the potential positives of our lives and all the negatives of our lives are better in God's hands. So, I challenge us where we are in our individual walks with God -

"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." - 1 Corinthians 10:31

"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." - Colossians 3:17

As a result..."the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:7
