HIS LIGHT

I see things right now as if I am looking into or onto a distorted, reflective surface, but there will come a day and time when I will see all things clearly. My knowledge of things is partial at best right now, but one day it will be complete, just as God knows every single thing about me. (Pritchard Paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 13:12)

Spiritually, I do feel like I am in a fog sometimes. Still, in other instances I feel totally blind. This world of darkness wants to keep you here - in the catacombs of despair, loneliness, stress, non-belief and the list goes on and on.  "Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God. We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves." (2 Corinthians 4:4, 7)

In John 12:46 Jesus says about Himself -
  • I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the dark.
I have come to have a great appreciation for David and his Psalms, one of which describes his love and my affection for the Word of God as our Guiding Light.
  • Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (Psalm 119:105)
In a world that is dark and somehow getting darker by the hour, God's Word, His Light is comforting and reassuring to me. Something that is helping me as I pilgrimage home to Heaven is - just that - keeping my thoughts on things above, especially that shoreline across old Jordan (the great divide in great, old songs).

His kingdom one day will be lit by just the radiance of His Glory. John recalls -
  • "I did not see a temple in the city [New Jerusalem], because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it." (Revelation 21:22-24
Oh, to live a holy and godly life as I look forward to the day of God and speed its coming (2 Peter 3:11) - to one day see clearly, to know completely, to feel with every part of my essence The Radiant Glory of God - His Light.
